    How It Works

How to Build a UTM Link

Create a trackable campaign URL in four steps.

    Enter Your Website URL

Paste the landing page link. Existing query parameters and #anchors are kept.

    Add Source, Medium and Campaign

These three fields are required, for example newsletter, email and spring_sale.

    Add Optional Details

Use campaign ID, term and content to separate keywords, ads or links in the same campaign.

    Copy and Share

Copy your campaign URL or create a QR code for print, packaging and events.

    About UTM Tags

    Track Every Campaign Accurately Consistently

UTM parameters are tags added to the end of a URL. When someone clicks the link, Google Analytics reads the tags and reports the visit under your chosen source, medium and campaign, so you can see which emails, ads and social posts really drive traffic and sales.

    1/ Correct Encoding

Spaces and special characters are encoded safely, existing parameters are kept and #anchors stay at the end of the URL.

    2/ Consistent Naming

Lowercase conversion is on by default, because Google Analytics treats Email and email as two different values.

    3/ Helpful Warnings

You are warned about spaces in values and about UTM tags already in the URL, which are replaced rather than duplicated.

    Use Cases

    When to Use UTM Links

Tag any link you share outside your website to measure its results.

    Email Newsletters

Tag every link in your emails to see which campaigns and links bring visitors back to your site.

    Social Media Posts

Compare traffic from organic posts, paid ads and profile links across every platform.

    Paid Ads and Partners

Track ads, sponsorships, affiliates and guest posts that are not tagged automatically.

    Print and QR Codes

Turn your campaign URL into a QR code to measure flyers, posters and packaging.

    FAQs

    UTM Builder FAQs

Common questions about UTM parameters and Google Analytics.

Use utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign on every tagged link. utm_id, utm_term and utm_content are optional.

We recommend it. Google Analytics is case-sensitive, so Facebook and facebook appear as two separate sources and split your data.

Spaces work but are encoded as %20, which makes links harder to read. Most teams use underscores or hyphens instead, such as spring_sale.

No. Only tag links on other websites, emails, ads and documents. UTM tags on links within your own site start a new session and overwrite the original traffic source.

Usually not. Linking Google Ads to Google Analytics with auto-tagging tracks your ads automatically. Use UTM tags for other ad platforms.

Any UTM parameter you set in the form replaces the one already in the URL, so the link never contains duplicate tags. Other parameters are kept unchanged.
